Community Service Projects
  On April 4th, 2000, the Columbus Police Department's Forgery/Fraud Unit recieved a donation of a high-resolution color laser printer from the Central Ohio Certified Fraud Examiners.
  This equipment will enhance the investigative capabilities of the detectives via the high-quality resolution of printed color materials ... especially important in this age of high-tech forgeries and frauds and the ever increasing identity theft issues.
  The presentation was made in the offices of the Fraud-Forgery Unit on the 6th floor of the Police Headquarters, 120 Marconi Blvd.  Accepting the new printer for the Division was Detective Bureau Commander Paul Denton and Detective Brian Spann.
  When told of the donation, Chief of Police James G. Jackson said, "This contribution marks a growing trend of generous support and positive partnerships from the business community."
  On April 5th, 2001, President Alan Bonham and Vice-Presient Lynda Buel had the honor of presenting a highspeed scanner on behalf of the Central Ohio Chapter of Certified Fraud Examiners to the Columbus Division of Police's Forgery/Fraud Unit.
  The Hewlett-Packard 6390C ScanJet will be used to scan evidence, digitize the information for use in the prosecutorial process and digitize and post wanted individual's photos on the Crime Stoppers WebSite.
  In February, 2002, President Robert Lidman, Vice-President Clifford Davis and Board Member Lynda Buel presented to the Columbus Division of Police's Forgery/Fraud Unit a digital camera for use in gathering evidence during burglary and fraud investigations.
Central Ohio Chapter of Certified Fraud Examiners
Our Mission:  To improve fraud detection and deterrence through the education and interaction of our members, and to aid community efforts to detect and prevent fraud.
  On March 19, 2003, the Central Ohio Chapter of CFE donated a digital camera to Chief Alan Bonham of the Hartford Police Department as part of the Chapter's Community Service Program.
  The digital camera will be used in gathering and processing evidence at crime scenes.
  On Tuesday, March 16, 2004 at 10:00 a.m., Clifford E. Davis, President of the Central Ohio Chapter of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, presented a color video printer to Sheriff Dave Phalen in his office at 221 East Main Street, Lancaster, Ohio.  The printer will enhance the Fairfield County Sheriff's Office in its efforts in apprehending and prosecuting persons committing fraud.
  The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners is the premier provider of anti-fraud training worldwide.  With 28,000 members in over 100 countries, they are dedicated to educating, uniting and supporting fraud prevention and detection professionals with world-class knowledge and practical solutions.
  Sheriff Phalen says he appreciates the generosity of the Central Ohio Fraud Examiners and feels the equipment will be beneficial in their fight against fraud.  (See Picture on Photo Gallery page)
On May 19, 2004, on behalf of the Central Ohio CFE Chapter, Chapter President Cliff Davis donated a UC body wire to Detective Jason Pappas of the Columbus Division of Police Fraud/Forgery Unit.  Detective Pappas graciously accepted the donation explaining that it will allow the Division to "gather better intelligence and evidence, promoting more aggressive prosecution of criminals involved in all facets of economic crime."
On December 24, 2005, the Central Ohio CFE Chapter matched $528.00 donated by its members for a total of $1,056.00 to donate to the local Charity Newsies.  Charity Newsies provide new, warm, durable clothing for needy children in Franklin County..
On January 18, 2006, the Central Ohio CFE Chapter donated two digital cameras to the Gahanna Police Department Financial Crimes Investigators Unit.

  On Wednesday, January 17, 2007, the Central Ohio CFE Chapter donated a digital scanner to the Hilliard Police Department as part of their annual Community Service Project.
  Det. John Shaffer said the scanner will greatly help their evidence handling and sharing.
